demon mammon: gold digger

In paradise lost, book 1, milton writes of mammon saying that he "led them on" and was "the least erected Spirit that fell." Even when mammon was in heaven his attitude and thoughts were always a lil crooked. for example, it says that he admired the gold and pavement and other rich looking things then the actual state of divineness and holiness in heaven. it is because of the fall of this disgusting demon, mammon, men decide to search the earth for gold and treasures and other earthly possessions.
